I have my options these types of that my e-mails do NOT get marked read right after clicking on them/viewing them during the reading pane. I favor they continue to be undread right up until I simply click that I have read it or reply to it. The earlier Variation of Outlook marked an email as "read" if I replied to it, but that is now not happening
